Child Allowance of 0 on bill when two children registered in household

    Hi Irish Water,

    My metered bill is above the capped charge so the capped charge amount is being used. My bill is based on 2 adults with Child Allowance(s) stated as 0. However we registered our household with two adults and two children.

    Should there be a further discount to include a Child Water Allowance or is the capped amount still lower than if child allowance x2 is applied?
    Should I be concerned for future bills that the Child Allowance is stated as 0 and not 2?

    Thanks.

    As you are on a metered charge your children's allowance should be reflected on your bill. However, if you were on an un-metered charge your children's allowance would not be seen on your bill as the assessed charge takes these allowances into consideration.

    I can look into this matter for you if you wish, please send us a DM with the following details and we will be happy to investigate this further for you:

    - Your name;
    - Address;
    - Contact Number; and
    - Confirmation that you are the account holder.

    I hope this information helps.

    Kind regards,
    Kim

    Hi All,

    Just thought I would provide you with an update.

    On my Irish Water bills the Child Allowance was listed as 0. This was despite me completing the original form online and providing details of my 2 kids in my household. This would have meant that my bills would have been much higher in 2016 if I hadn't been paying attention. The Boards.ie Irish Water reps updated my account manually (so thanks to them) so in theory I should now get the child allowance x2 in 2016. I would be surprised if I am the only person in Ireland to have had this issue.

    Moral of the story - check you bill that it includes the required child allowance or your 2016 bills will be higher than they should be if you have kids.
