This a bit of a ode to Coillte, we are very quick to give out about government services and perhaps not praise the good ones.

I spent a good bit of my spare time out walking and I have to say Coillte does of a very good job of providing interesting relational opportunities for everyone.

    Coillte's Forests
Coillte owns over one million acres of land, most of which is forested.

Coillte manages many kilometres of walking and cycle trails which are all listed, along with a downloadable map with details of length and grade on our recreation website. When I was in my late teens Coillte decided the forest near my house was ready for harvest and cut down all the "non native" trees (ie all the pines). They replanted nothing, and the pines were >60% of that forest. **** Coillte and the JCB they rode in on.

Coillte may provide forest walks but raise this on the Nature forum and see how their policies provide for near sterile woodlands of non native species that does little or nothing for wildlife. All they provide are areas of mostly conifer woods where you can walk or cycle.
