    Hi All,
I have found an apartment and approved for a mortgage. The banks has given me a list of auctioneers which carry out evaluations for them but who gets a fire safety assessment done? Do the banks or is it up to me?

    Thanks in advance.
    D

It should have been done when the apartment complex was built.

You will be getting a professional to carry out a structural survey. Ask them if they will check the planning and fire certificate status for you too.

Fire Safety Cert would have been granted prior to works commencing on site.
You can call Fire Prevention in Dublin City on 01-6734088 and ask if there is a FSC for the building.

Your surveyor wont be opening up any walls or anything during his survey.

is the mortgage provider requesting you arrange a "fire safety assessment" to be carried out??

    Hi folks,
Thanks for your replies. The bank hasn't mentioned a fire safety survey yet anyway. The apartment is not in a block of apartments. There is just two apartments. The seller rented out the apt for few years and is now selling it. He wants me to block up windows in kitch come dining as they look into his garden and put in sky lights which will be in the contract. I will get a check done on it anyway if the bank doesn't request it.

    Regards
    D

This cannot be done. You are making an alteration to a building containing flats, it may require Planning, a Fire Safety Cert and a Disability Cert.
