Volunteer Year in Ireland

My friend's 18YO, from Germany, would like to do a year's volunteering in Ireland. The preference is to work with disabled peopled. (Taking a year out after school to volunteer is a not uncommon thing over there). Would some kind soul please point me towards some resources that might help get them started in their search?
