Planning enforcement - better the devil you know

    Has anyone any experience with the enforcement department in DCC? There has been some structures erected in a commercial property adjacent to our house over the past few years all of which without planning permission. I've left sleeping dogs lie until now when yesterday the tenant put up bollards and locked my car into a public car park which they have effectively commandeered as their own and painted "private parking" signs on the ground. I normally don't park there but yesterday had some visitors who had parked in the driveway. Anyway, my only reservation about pursuing enforcement is that they built a small artist studio to the rear of the property which if they were forced to remove may prompt them to build something bigger as they have ambitions to develop the site but previous applications have been denied.

    Does anyone have any experience in dealing with DCC enforcement?

    What do you want to hear?
    If the structures are unauthorised then they will Perdue them to regularise the situation by retention or else remove the structures.

    Your complaint has to be in writing or by email and your details are kept secret.

    Contrary to what recent media would have you believe (90 year old & satilite dish), Plan Enf section are quite reasonable to deal with.
