    Hi,
Looks like I'll be moving to Skerries in the New Year and I'll be looking to join a club once I get settled in. Any suggestions?

Velo Club Balrothery or McNally Swords are two that spring to mind

McNally Swords CC would be the largest and best club in that area. ;)http://swordscc.com/

There's also Velo Club Balrothery https://www.facebook.com/veloclubbalrothery/ is you fancy spending time with Rob Fowl, Lusk Doyle etc.

McNally Swords retains a strong Skerries contingent. A few of us are regular commuters heading into town just after 7 most mornings if that tickles your fancy...

BTW the Club AGM is this Friday at the Carneghie Court in Swords - anyone interested in joining is welcome to come along (and indeed sign up!)

    Goats not welcome at VCB

Unless they like coffee, mud and long days in the saddle ....

In all seriousness I'd suggest going out with a few and see which is the best fit.
Swords a bigger club but VCB quite happy to stay smaller although active in all cycling related activities.
Balbriggan there too but not that active ATM (stand to be corrected)
Stamullen there too but more a pure racing club although if the Ras rocks your boat they have teams in most years

The Balrothery colours of Black and Red date back to the crest awarded in 1343.
Here is the jersey in action (note the Swords cc rider coming through as first loser as well as another in 5th or 6th ;) )

And I would just add that there are quite a number on that photo who graduated from McNally Swords. Without that grounding they would probably be nobodies nowadays .....

    :P

I presume that photo was taken ages ago, and far away?

Or does the foreshortening effect make it look like they're not 2 abreast/following all the rotr/doing whatever the super wants/etc

It was taken this year, but not in Fingal

I would point out those still in Swords are on the correct side of the road

Just to add that technically none of these riders are 2 abreast. Everyone is in front or behind everyone else except for a brief moment when overtaking someone....:pac:

That was an IVCA coffee spin one Sunday in August - guys getting there first had to pay which is why so many are holding back. You can see from his expression how thirsty Rob was and he was first through the café door that day.....
