I received a fine for doing 61 in a 50 recently by speed van.

I read recently that there are loopholes for escaping this fine.

Can anyone advise what can I do to escape this fine ?

You acknowledge breaking the limit, why should you not pay?

Because it's a money making Scam.

In many places they bring down the speed limits so they can catch people out.

50kmh is an urban area, I know some are scammish in places but no excuses in urban areas.

Besides he was caught over the limit, he has to pay or spend months finding a loophole and court etc.

    Simplest to pay!

We'll scam them right back! Everyone drive around at 5kph under the limit, they'll be so confused & unable to catch any of us! Mwahahaha..

The trick is to tell them you're prejudice against all races....

The speed limit going past DCU in Dublin is only 50km. Its almost impossble to stay that speed when your going down hill.

I even broke the speed limit on that road when I did my driving test and still passed.

No, that's to get out of jury duty.

I have to say that some of the threads are very funny, still any knowledable people on this thread who can possibly help ?

we aren't allowed to , it's against the Rules to give advice on breaking the law (as opposed to braking the car, which would help keep the speed down when going down a hill)

Joking aside, it's interesting that you want to avoid the fine - most people want to avoid the points.

Best advice would be to talk to a solicitor, but even 30 minutes with a solicitor will cost you more than the fine.

Giving advice is not breaking the law

Give a solicitor 2-300 and he may be able to save the 80 for you.
Your manners will definitely get you lots of help in sure.

Well you shouldn't have passed your test, since you haven't a clue how to control a car. How come I can drive past DCU everyday at 50kmph? Maybe i dont know how to drive? i must be doing it all wrong.:eek::eek::eek:

If you brake on some roads with low speed limits your likely to have someone run into the back of you.

Just don't pay the fine and ignore all letters sent to you about it. They'll soon forget

That has never happened me once

OP just pay your fine, take your 2 points and stop looking for ways to obstruct justice!

tbh I understand where op is coming from. I cherry pick what laws I feel are applicable to me and ones which I disregard as I feel are of no benefit to my needs.

Wow, so many replies and only YB actually made an attempt to actually answer the question posed lol, boards as always.

    GoSafe are not infallible.

OP there are some loopholes and technicalities but it really means you have to go be ready to court and risk double points (personally I can't see the legality in punishing someone for having their case heard - rant over), hopefully you'll get a peed off judge (with gosafe and not speeders - another unforeseeable possibility), a good solicitor (and if possible a garda to advise as well ;)) to actually check the summons for errors, most of which would cost a lot more than the original points/fine.

There's an answer for you, on the advice side, unless there is something glaringly obvious it's probably best just to pay up.

OP broke the limit (fair limit or unfair, irrelevant) and admitted that. Just pay the fine.
