    Hi all,

I have a question that's bugging me. I have floor tiling and laminate flooring been installed at the moment.

My plan was to do the tiling and laminate floor first then get my door oak frames installed so that they are sitting snugly on top of the tiles and laminate floors. Then the skirting can be fitted nicely on top of the tiles and laminate to conceal gaps left for expansion. Then fit doors and architrave.

However we are getting carpet fitted on first floor landing area and I'm wondering should I have the door frames installed after the carpet is fitted similar to the tiles and laminate, or should the door frames be fitted before the carpet??

If anyone knows which is best could you let me know as I need to make decision by tomorrow.....

    Many thanks guys

I always fit door frames doors ,locks and handles before any finished flooring. It's cleaner and less chance of doing any damage to finished floors. And gives a bit of leeway for squaring up frames. It also gives an exact middle line for finishing floor coverings under the door. With timber floors just cut the bottoms of the frames when in situ to suit the height of the floors and slot in underneath the frames. Then skirt, door stops and architrave. Then fit the carpet up to the frames and skirting when all the dust is finished with.
