Seemed that there was some shouting during the minute's silence, then some of the crowd asking for silence, followed by some more shouting and then booing from a section of the crowd. A few people drinking too much? Didn't sound very respective

About half a dozen clowns out of 50,000 people.
    Hardly worth a mention here.

You'll always have scumbags, hence why we need a minute's silence in the first place. They should just stick to minute's applause at sports events.

Jesus Christ 2 people out of 60,000.

    Get over it ffs.

being reported that it was a few bosnians who disrepected it

Same old with football fans. They had a minutes silence at a Celtic match last week for rememberance Sunday. They couldn't just keep quiet for 60 seconds

Im dreading England v France tomorrow.

The NFL had people shouting things out during their silences over the weekend too.

I was at the match. It was one or two idiots in the Bosnian crowd. They were shushed by everyone, even the rest of the away fans.

Apologies, I didn't catch the start of the match, only had a gawk at the thread in the soccer forum and a few were saying that the chants were keano keano

It was Bosnia fans I assumed at the time. Then Irish fan yelled '' shut the fucck up ''
but they didn't so crowd booed and then Irish attempted to turn it into a minutes applause to drown out the fans who would not be quite. It was a sham, but it was Bosnia fans who ruined it. Funny , whole of the Bosnia supporters in crown wore black too. I found that weird.

Bosnians are mostly Muslims no surprise they support their brothers in arms.

Majority of Bosnian fans clapping Irish team as they passed on 'lap of honour'. Respect!

I apologise deeply for some away fans making noise OP. Please forgive the other 45 thousand people in attendance........

Not that I'm trying to tar all our Muslim friends with the same brush, but Islam is the largest religion in Bosnia, so I'm not too surprised that some knobhead, Bosnian soccer fans would have disrespected the minutes silence.
Just like our knobhead soccer fans who insist on inserting the IRA chant into the Fields of Athenry

Yeah, 45% of Bosnians are Muslim so it's not hard to believe that a couple of the fans weren't respectful of the minute silence..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,005 ✭✭✭Letree

Country is 45% muslim so at least one of them didn't give it the 'walla hu ackbar' treatment.

I was just curious, wasn't sure if it was a few people who had drank too much or a few Bosnians of Muslim descent or even a few Irish of Muslim descent. As you say, the vast majority observed the silence

    That would matter if true.

No need for minute's silence before the match. Events in France nothing to do with Ireland or Bosnia.

No mention of those murdered in Lebanon the previous day.

I also noticed that the Bosnian players went straight off the pitch after, didn't even bother going down to thank their supporters. Bad form imo

We don't know if alcohol involved. Not very good Muslims if there was.
I think it was simply a case of a few in Bosnia crowd who could not careless about what happened in France,so they must support the other side..

There's a thread about the Paris attacks.

And if you wish to discuss Soccer, there's a Soccer forum for that as well.
