I want to replace a non-load bearing cross bar. What should you disconnect when welding on a vehicle? Thanks.

Make sure the welder earth clamp is as close as possible to the repair position on the item being welded.
You don't want welding current finding its way from + to - through wiring looms, ECU, bearings, hinges, etc.

    Edited to add:
Disconnect the alternator and ECU too if it's reasonable feasible.
