As someone who is still scratching, i think i speak for us all when i say that would be a very bad idea. Unless i was fighting them in a paid debate your notion has as many holes as my body would return with. (If isis return bodies, i make no presumtions on that)

Where people were sent out in large groups to do battle with people from another country over some grievance or other but mostly to soak up surplus population and maintain order at home.

War can no longer be seen as a "solution" to joblessness or overpopulation or other social ills because of the risk of escalation into nuclear war or chemical warfare......where everyone dies.

The western democracies and to some extent Russia and China, now depend more on full time professional armies with highly skilled and trained technologically advanced soldiers, hardly the type of people you will find on the dole. It might be possible to select the best people from each nations workforce and backfill the positions left vacant with many of the existing people on the dole but this would not be a quick fix and would take a long time to do. Then you are left with the problem of what to do if and when peace is restored and all the security problems are solved, if ever.

The western democracies used women in this way in WW1, sending the men off to the front to fight and getting the women to work at home in the factories, on transport etc. There were great upheavals when the men returned home after the war and went to take back what they saw as "their" jobs and the women were expected to go back to being dependant housewives.

WW2 saw a similar pattern, a large uptake of men and some women in the armed services with a consequent upheaval when hostilities ended and new roles and a new order had to be sorted out for all the people.

Sending unwilling combatants to fight a foreign war on foreign soil is a stupid idea.

The US did it in Vietnam and got their asses handed to them.

Sure they can't even get jobs how do you expect them to be an organised and disciplined fighting force, a better idea would be to send teachers over during their spring, summer, autumn and winter holidays.

I can see the meme now. Sean Bean in shorts and flip flops "brace yourselves, the teachers are coming". No one would be laughing at that!
