Maternity grant?

Hi all, I am currently pregnant with my second child (of two). I wonder if anyone knows what the chances are of getting some Supplementary Welfare Allowance assistance? I got a payment when I was pregnant with my first so they might say that that's my lot. But any help would really be appreciated.

I know the days of seperate grants for early maternity clothes, late maternity clothes, overnight bag, buggy and cot are long gone and I'm not looking for multiple payouts but, as I said, any bit of help would be really great.

You could look for an exceptional needs payment, speak to your CWO as it really is at their discretion.

Where I live the CWOs are currently telling prospective mothers that a baby is neither exceptional nor unforeseen, in that you have 9 months to prepare for the hospital, delivery, nursery etc.
Our local St. Vincent de Paul actually hand over ready made up hospital bags made up of a mixture of second hand and new items for both mother and baby.
If you go on any of the Things for Sale in .... pages on Facebook you should be able to get prams and cots and things second hand reduced or even free.
    Good luck.
