    Folks

Just looking for feedback on this car. I am in the market for a small hatchback as I will be doing no more then 80km driving per week and don't want a big engine in order to keep the insurance to a minimum aswell as tax. I saw this car on done deal. Ideally I would like a car no more then 4-5 years old and will have cash in hand. Not only am I looking for feedback on this make and model (reliability, resale value in a few years etc) if possible but also I am not experienced at bargaining and was wondering how much would you reckon I should offer for it with cash in hand?

That's one of the cheapest examples of that model on sale. I think there's only 1 cheaper in the country and its a white base model 3 door.

This would be worth a look too.

    Colm,

I have a personal preference for a black car. Do you think there would be much leeway on the price? Also would that be something to be concerned about if its one of the cheapest available i.e could their be hidden problems with the car I wonder?

That particular are garage is in business 8 years, that's a plus.
Ref the price, there could be many reasons, main dealer garage may have valued it cheap, got the deal anyway, and sold it on cheap. Could have gone through auctions cheap, could be a finance repo, loads of possibilities really.
It's not crazy cheap, or anything, just the cheapest. I'd still try and haggle a bit off of course, but don't be offended if you don't get a huge discount as its relatively good value.

So I viewed the car today and I asked what the best price the owner could do and he said he could only knock another €100 of the price i.e it would be €8750. Do you think this sounds like good value. I t would need to be taxed aswell once the ownership is transferred and also he said it was an ex demo car with 2 previous owners. Is this something to be concerned about. Also one more thing (sorry for all the questions folks) but is the resale value good on these cars i.e in a few years time?

Not necessarily, but examine the bodywork carefully. If you're not too good at checking cars out, it would be worth bringing someone along that is.
Price wise, I'm not shocked they're not discounting it much, as it's well priced as it is.

How do you know? (or infer/judge/intuit!)

Because I worked in a garage that sold hyundai and the ratio of hire car:demo is huge.
I also know that salesmen sell ex hire cars as demos.
