Blame the people who brought in a stupid regulation about issuing dual language notices.

He is fluent Irish though :P Even if he is a scumbag he has a right to all official documents to be presented in Irish... Stupid loophole or not.

I love the fact a Romanian got off with this due to not being presented with a ticket in English and Irish. Legal system here is a joke It was a Romanian that set one of the precedents.

Legal system here is a joke.l.

The reason it was struck out is because the defence was ready and the prosecution was absent. The obvious question is why the prosecution could not proceed. Thats between the Garda and the DPP, but being in the pubic sector presumably no heads will roll.

Yes, I understand that but the Romanian man precedent was cited was it not. The Irish language defence needs to be thrown out. They should have a translator present for example the Ticket and what the Garda would say only in Irish. Then Get the person to translate it to the translator in English pretty much word for word. If they cant the case should be thrown out. Irish is one of Ireland's official languages not the only one.

By the prosecution, in trying to get the matter adjourned again. The Judge refused their application. They should have been ready to go on, they cannot assume a case will be adjourned, it's entirely their fault. Drink driving cases all over the country are proceeding.
