1200 euro per year road tax will put most people off .
Also that car would be lucky to do 25mpg never mind 40.

Big tax is off putting enough the the person who ordered that car in manual should have their a55 kicked.

It might look cheap but try selling it on and see how much interest you get.

    Thanks for replies everyone.

Budget is tight - max 7k and want a low mileage car if possible - around 2008/09 - not many cars bought back then so having to see if i can catch a bargain.

Volvo s40 has been the front runner, audi a4 the dream.

7owners is a worry and there's lots of possible manufacturer recalls on this, would call a main Volvo dealer to check if they've actually been done

7 owners is a serious worry with something so complex. For reference the S40 has nearly 40 electronic control modules, so I'd guess the S80 is similar.

That wont get 40mpg even on the motorway, unless you're doing below 100kph.

OP I should imagine something like this will fit your criteria.

Very highly regarded on here at least. I don't know much about them personally but from what I hear they're very nice to drive and very reliable.

Where did you get info about 7 owners?
