Recommend a monitor?

Hi all, I have a Mid 2014 Macbook Pro Retina and I'm looking at investing in a monitor. I haven't a clue though what kind of spec would best replicate the retina screen? Would be looking at 24"/27" screen. Any advice much appreciated.
