Text happy to 50244 to see what surprise they give you if you top up this weekend. €5 free credit seems to be umost common, not amazing but handy if you were going to top up this weekend

I actually just ignored this by Vodafone. I normally only get messages and info through the post about new phones to buy. When my Late Loving Dad were alive he would receive special offers and info on credit deals.

Unless I hear about something better than €5 Thank You but I'm just gonna ignore.

/Nothing to do with my topping up with €40 recently and moments later receiving info about 'extra' credit if you top up 'from-now!'.

    Thanks though,
    kerry4sam

    /I'm getting narky, I just need a cycle :o

Hmm... Got €5 free here, on the condition that I top up by €20 by tomorrow night.

Full terms and conditions here: http://www.vodafone.ie/terms/comp/

    I got the text too.

For nearly three years I have been on the same tariff, €20 credit gets thirty days free Vodafone calls and texts, as well as a bit of data. As I rarely use the phone for th'interweb this suits me fine. I rarely use the full €20 and unused credit accumulates, giving me a cushion for occasional times of heavy use such as trips abroad. I never top up within the thirty days.

I regularly get texts, and sometimes calls, to try to tempt me on to another tariff, designed to get me to use the full €20 every thirty days.

As the current tariff suits me just fine, I find it easy to politely decline these offers as I will politely decline the current one. I will try to contain the disappointment of not finding out what the surprise is.

Tesco mobile is €15/month and you get a way more than what you are getting with Vodafone.

I'm on the same tariff but I find that when the 30 days is up, the credit disappears very quickly so it seems we're being charged at a huge rate after 30 days.

Top up on the 30 days by 20 quid, as you said you get charged through the nose after the 30 days. You can use the accumulated credit to pay for the plan then; I had that plan for years and years and ended up with about €180 in my account and basically had a 'free' phone for 9 months.

In fairness to them as well they contacted me about setting it up that they'd take the 20 out of the credit each month. I didn't know it was possible to do that (this was in 2012/2013 so not sure if it is still the case but definitely worth asking)

I've noticed that too - I don't know what the call rate is after the 30 days but the data charge is €2 per day, so after the thirty days is up I keep an eye on the credit and top up pretty sharp.

If after the 30 days are up and you have leftover credit, it's a lot more efficient to then use that credit to buy add-ons.

For instance, a fiver gets you 30 minutes of Irish calls for 30 days and a tenner gets you 100 minutes. Compare that to the out-of-bundle rate of 35c/min!

Similarly, a fiver gets you 500MB of data for 30 days (and a month of Spotify Premium too).

It's a no-brainer to stretch out the value of your leftover credit like this until you have to top-up again.

Mine was €2 if I topped up by a tenner.

Vodafone clearly don't have much fate in my custom!:pac:
