    If one received a leak letter from IW and they disabled all water usage within their premises, opened their meter box to observe the digit reading glass, what would would be a reasonable amount of observation time to watch for digit movement?

    Hi Gadgetman496,

    Thanks for getting in touch.

    If you're carrying out the test, we would recommend:
    - You take a meter read;
    - Turn off the water; and
    - Check the meter again after an hour.

    We also advise turning off any appliance that uses water (e.g. washing machine, dishwasher etc.) to ensure a more accurate reading.
    You can find more information on your Irish Water meter here.

    If you believe there may be a leak, we recommend you contact us on 1890 278 278 and a member of our team will assist you further.

    Kind regards,
    Mairead
