Good morning - a quick question

Has anything changed at the eir end which would impact downloading emails from my @eircom.net email account to my iPhone 4s ?. It has been working without issue for ages...but since yesterday morning not able to connect. Perhaps something amiss with my phone but just wanted to ensure nothing obvious at the eir end.

    Many thanks,
                        K

    Hi Raven_k42

We are aware of an issue affecting a small amount of customers and the support team are investigating. Our best advise is to get in touch with the eir email support team on 1890260260 in the event that this issue is not a result of the recent findings.

    Thanks

    Al

    Hi again Raven_k42

A solution has been identified. The issue has only occurred with apple products/device. Customers who have previously had their devices settings set to retrieve their mail using http://mail1.eircom.net as incoming server, and POP standard 110 as the port, mysteriously switched yesterday to using the POP SSL port 995. It is possible Apple could have pushed something to clients to cause this switch.

The simplest solution is: Switch the device back to previous Settings:

    Incoming Server: http://mail1.eircom.net Port:110

    Outgoing Server http://mail1.eircom.net Port: 25

Should you require any guidance in changing server settings on your device please revert to your devises user handbook or search for apple advice online

I changed mine just there to the incoming mail server mail1.eircom.net and it is saying that the server is not responding.

Is there a problem again with this? Also, can you provide an "01" as opposed to an "1890" no. to contact the support people.

    Thanks

I'm in the same boat here
No incoming emails for about 3 weeks now
Kind of frustrating as all my utility accounts etc are linked to my eircom.net email address
    I'm not on iPhone though, I'm on HTC1 M7

Used to have email set up on my mac book, but that stopped working well over a year ago now so really relied on getting it to my phone

i have checked the settings and all seem to be ok
i have logged into webmail.eircom.net to try and retreive my emails that way and low and behold, there is nothing there since 19th november

i have sent numerous test mails but none of them come through and none are getting bounce backs to say they have not been delivered

    someone please help

    Hi Seve OB

The best advise I can offer is to contact eir email support where a support agent will be able to investigate this for you - You can reach support on 1890260260 - If you are not a customer and you are asked for a phone number just hold on the line and wait to be transferred to an agent. Ultimately this would be most likely be in relation to the settings and there is no general issue like there was in the above thread at the moment.

If there is something you would like to check in your emails as a matter of urgency there is a webmail version you can log in to here: https://www.eir.ie/email/

    Thanks
    Al

    Thanks Al

Weird, but this afternoon I started to receive emails again.

I tried the webmail but nothing there.

So I have a gap of about three weeks where I never received any emails.

It's frustrating but I can live with it thanks

If you retrieve using pop and delete after retrieval they won't appear on the web mail server.
It is better to use imap rather than pop. This also refelcts the folder structure that is on the webmail (zimbra) server.

use webmail.eircom.net as the imap server in your setting.

Yea but while i do have pop settings, no emails camd through at all for a few weeks so surely they should be still on the server!

No harm anyway, i seem to be sorted for now thanks
