Scrapping a car?

A number of years ago, I gave my old (banged out)car to the local GAA club as part of the ‘metal for scrap’ thing they had going back then. I told them to collect the car from my back yard which they did.
For the past few years, I get motor tax renewal letters from the tax office. I would normally fill out the declaration of non-use and sent it back to them, but this is now a nuisance, so now I want to clear it up.

My problem is I do not have any official documentation stating that the car was scrapped (I do believe it was), and when I ask the GAA chairman he says he knows nothing about it.

So is there anywhere I can go to declare and/or sign that the car is scrapped and stop the tax renewal requests.

As long as the car will never be on the road again just ignore them. They give up after a while.

Pretty sure you can get onto dept of transportation in Shannon, get form in post fill out and return, tell them you sold it etc.. while not technically true, will cover your ass in case the car is still in use.

Partner got couple of tickets after sold her car think this is route she had to go down..
