A8 servicing Kildare

    All,

    2004 A8 4.0 TDI with 70k miles - looking to get serviced.

I typically stay away from stealers for obvious reasons.

Anyone know of a good Indy in south Kildare area that could take on this car ?

Even better, it sits around Dublin airport during the week. Option to have it collected from the carpar, serviced and dropped back would be ideal.

I insist on honesty, attention to detail and detailed knowledge about the specific vehicle tyoe or willingness to consult relevant knkwledge bases.

Not easy to come by I know.

Hadn't a great experience with autowise last time so will avoid if possible. Bit far away from me these days too.

    Thanks in advance.

George Dalton just outside Abbeyleix is your best bet, not a million miles from south Kildare.

Off topic but what kind of mpg do you see on the commute to Dublin ?

Not a DIY effort, moved from DIY to main forum.

Sorry for wrong forum mods - it's been a while. Twin boys is all I have to say about that !!

It's the 4.0 and it's giving me about 35mpg which aint too bad with the 6 speed zf auto. It seems to have been paired with the A8 for about 18 months until they bored it out and made a few refinements aka the 4.2

It purs beautifully - sounds like the bimmer M57 but a bit nicer imo.

The quattro is fantastic - sticks to roundabouts and not a sign of any corrosion etc with the ali composition. I love it.
It's absolutely enormous though. I got it stuck between barriers in an underground carpark over the weekend - mortified.

It's going in to Spirit next week :)

Thanks for the tip. I shall be on to him.

I second Tossys suggestion about George, very nice guy to deal with, knows his stuff and very reasonable too. Been bringing my A6 to him for a few years, no issues at all.

Apologies for reviving this but must give feedback.

My A8 has been in to George twice.

He is top notch and I entrust my car to him. Can't say more than that !

fyi - He's got not-so-expensive tranny fluid for ZF gearboxes and did mine. Transformed !

    Anyway, ++++1 for George.

I reckon we have the same ZF 6HP26, I used Mannol fluid myself recently, you know what George used?

A lot of the oil George uses is Fuchs brand it could of been another brand though. I had my a4 in with him recently to get a service and a good few bits they are a pleasure to deal with it would be difficult to go anywhere else now :)
