Saorview HD & Aerial

Ok so installed saorview channels via coaxial aerial in a Sony KDL32R433BBU no box required.

Now RTE 1 & 2 show the HD logos but the picture isn't showing in HD only standard. Does that mean I need to get a box to connect the aerial to produce HD quality? Don't know why but thought digital would give HD through the aerial once TV was HD and could receive saorview.

The channels broadcast in 1440x1080i HD format but not all content is true HD, a lot is upscaled from an SD source. A STB won't make any difference.

Just because you're watching a HD channel doesn't mean that everything will be broadcast in HD. A lot of studio output will be in SD and most news programs the same. Have you seen a nature program or movie that should have been broadcast in HD but wasn't?
