How to multi room an android box.

Hi Folks - new in here, so be gentle ;). I have searched but can't find this having being discussed.

I've got a Sky Box connected up to my main TV. I'm using the RF2 output to run a Coax cable to another room. I'm using a wireless AV sender for the remote control from that other room (there's too much interference due to old house to use the AV sender for the picture too, hence the coax).

I'm thinking of getting an android box (Minix or Amiko). This would have to be set-up in by the main TV. Is there anyway that I can get it's output to go to both the main TV and the TV in the other room? The AV sender could control both Sky box and Android box.

I was wondering if there was some kind of HDMI to Ethernet converter, that I could use at the Android end and the other room TV end and then use home plugs to get the signal from the Android to the other room? If that wasn't feasible, I could run an Ethernet cable beside the coax - it's a 20m run.

    Any thoughts?

You can get HDMI to CAT5 extenders. I have a set going from my android box to my main TV and to a splitter in the attic serving 2 TV's upstairs. I have ones from Neet Cables that I got from Amazon for about 90 euro. Expensive but worth it. You'll need to CAT5 or CAT6 cables between the extenders and they're limited to about 30m length.

The extenders carry the IR signal too so you could get rid of the AV Sender.

Thank you for the pointers. Is this the kind of unit you got?

Do you have to run 2 CAT5/6 cables between the devices though?

Yep, that's the one I got. Price has dropped on it too :)

Yes, you have to run 2 CAT5/6 cables between them, there are other ones that work with 1 cable but aren't as good. You'll need power for these as well so make sure there's a socket at the end point. CAT6 will give better future proofing with higher data rate but CAT5 will work fine too. Plus CAT5 is easier to pull. If you can, put in a few spares for internet etc.

Not sure if the IR probes come with them. A quick email to Neet will answer that. Their customer support is fantastic.
