Not sure exactly which forum to post is so apologies if this is in the wrong place.

If I've purchased a 4k TV would I still need a combi box for FTA channels such as BBC etc even though there is a digital tuner build into the TV?

Can I run a cable direct from Satellite dish to the TV?

It will have a Saorview capable digital terrestrial tv tuner but if it doesn't have a satellite tuner you will need a satellite box.

What is the make/model of the TV?
An easy way to check if it has a satellite tuner(s) is to look for a screw-on connector (F-connector) at the rear of the TV, they are used for connecting satellite dish feed cables to a satellite receiver. A Saorview aerial uses a push-in connector.

Exactly as the cush asked what make and model of the tv is it, all new range sonys with exception to one 40inch version that I can think of has a satellite tuner built in as well as the digital tuner required for Saorview...

Fantastic set ...no need for a combi box this tv has an S2 satellite tuner built in so can receive the sat channels once hooked up to a sat dish.

You can also sideload android apps from a phone or tablet using a program called es file explorer which u will find in the app store on the tv and in the google play store on android phones etc....look up sideloading apps on the song android range 2015 to explain further...

It has a satellite tuner and a combo dvb-c/t tuner.

I have a question for you though. Do you expect to receive any 4k broadcasts free to air soon ?

If you are going to play h265 material then fine.

4K content will be limited to Netflix and downloaded encodings just right now.

Ok I couldn't find any reference to a satellite tuner as I had looked at that set myself ---- thanks.

It is not freesat its a generic S2 satellite tuner, however the tv does put some of the channels in the correct Freesat channel no's...

4K Bluray Players are due out in about 6 months time I think, I have tried the Sony upscalers currently out on the market and must say I was personally impressed by the pic quality...

Netflix in 4k looks incredible on it but content is limited for now...ypu require a fast internet speed for it...tried on a 10meg and buffered since tried on a 30mb fibre line and worked fine.

Astra 19 and 23. are adding Ultra hd tranmissions all the time...

Its in the spec alright. Its back to that Freesat question that more than likely says no and ends of in no sat tuner then eh.....

I also saw mention of "Twin HD" tuner which is infact a dual dvb-t!

Ability to record via any of the 3 onboard USBs ? You must be joking, why would you want that!
