    hi,
I'm trying to compare the interior width of the back seat/rear of cars but can only find exterior measurements. For interior sites show shoulder, head dimensions but I can't find total interior width.

    thanks in advance,
    Pa.

Shoulder width in the back would be the interior width wouldn't it?

Carzone.ie/new-cars has that info for most cars. The figure of 1,434mm in the back of a V70 sounds about right.

If you are looking for the width of the back seat, then I doubt you'll find that anywhere, so it will be a matter of heading to see the cars with tape measure in hand. I believe salesmen love it when you turn up with a tape measure :pac:

Thanks, that's it! I just saw the figure but didn't check it properly.
Looking for a car/SUV with good shoulder room to fit 3 kids in the back. BMW 5 series (expensive), Skoda Superb and some SUVs but trying to figure out if they're any wider than the likes of a Saab 93 etc.

    Shoulder Room
Although shoulder room is rarely measured, it can be important for shoppers who often carry passengers in the car. Basically, it's the measurement from one door panel to another. That's different from hip room, which measures a single seat. And it's different from width, since shoulder room measures the car's interior, which is usually much narrower

Are they all in car seats? If so, you'll struggle to fit them comfortably across the back of any standard car.

We had a V70 with a Group 0 Seat and a Group 1-2 seat in, and there was just about enough room for a small booster in the middle. Currently have a narrower XC60 with 2 Group 3+ seats and the booster seat (unused, just there in case) is jammed in between the seats. At a push, a skinny adult fits in there.

There's no way you'd fit 2 full size child seats and any other human across the back of an E60 5 Series (previous model) - that's what I'm driving and have had the seats in the back and there's very little space between them.

    What's the budget?

Check the allowed taxis list. I think they give widths

It's easier if you recline the passenger seat for her ;)

Youre restricted to a few vehicles I'm afraid...

    Peugeot 5008
    Citroen Grand Picasso
    Ford Galaxy
    Audi Q7

Can list a few more but you get the picture

    Hi,
1- infant, currently 2 months young
2- 8 year old in booster
3- 5 year old in booster with back.

The 3 fit into our Saab 93 or Volvo S40 but buckles are a squeeze. We don't want to buy a people carrier. Budget- not sure at the moment, maybe €20k max, maybe less. Will buy 2nd hand, hopefully 2011 or 2012 at the oldest.

I've ordered a seatbelt extender to make it easier to tie the buckle, hasn't arrived yet.

Push the budget out, and buy this? http://www.carzone.ie/used-cars/volvo/v70/used-2011-volvo-v70-d3-2-0-d-163h-dublin-fpa-200714461302265620

More than all the car you'll ever need, and one of the widest across the back seat. Fairly level across the back, so the middle seat is usable - our V70 didn't have an armrest though, so I'm not sure if makes it less comfortable.

If buying a SUV or CUV be careful to check the centre seat belt in the back. If it comes from the ceiling then it does not work well for child seats due to the position of the 2nd fixed latch.
Kuga and Tiguan are suitable for a child seat in the centre back seat as they both have a normal seat belt. But smallish boot for buggey.
Tucson/Sportage/Rav4/CRV do not work well for the middle seat.
A 2012 Mondeo will fit your 3 child seats but a bit of back breaking work putting them in each time.
What you need to find is a car with the most suitable and equal spacing of the back seats rather than the widest car. And the flatter the seats the better. Isofix is generally out of the question for 3 child seats as you will need to move them closer to the doors than Isofix allows.
And also find the narrowest child seats e.g. Jane Montecarlo or Britax Adventure
