Strava issues?

Sorry if l have asked this before. When l get back from a ride there are times when my whole route isn't recorded. By that l mean, if l check the route map l can see a straight line going across hills, mountains, lakes and valleys! l sometime lose 5-15 KMs this way. lt appears that l lose the signal and then when l regain it it just draws a straight line to that point. And judging by the very high average speed, the clock/timer obviously stops during this 'outage' but the distance of the straight line is calculated correctly into the overall length of the journey. I thought l had it figured out recently when l discovered that l had my auto-pause set for both ride and run. So l set it for ride only and it worked ok for the next few runs, but now it's back to acting the maggot again! Is it possible that low internal storage could be a problem? l have asked on the android discussion forum about transferring the internal storage to the SD card. Or is it a simple GPS problem. None of my mates seem to have any issues with their devices.

Are your mates using phone or a garmin? Did you try uninstalling and re installing the software?

The only time I've seen similar is sometimes while trying to save my run in a place of poor reception. That being said, the distances and times look fine. However, the map might show a line from Dublin to Galway!!!

Phones aren't reliable. Switched to Garmin after loosing countless spins/runs....better

totally agree Noble. That said Id record my cycles on garmin and phone just so as to have a backup incase one of em goes funny for whatever reason.

    Used to happen to me.
I used to download the gpx/tcx file, delete the activity, upload the activity again.

This way you get the actual time taken from the start/finish of the straight line sections rather than the zero-time strava initially calculates.
You loose any kudos for your very high average speed though... ;)

Still happens to me, from time to time (android Samsung). I just assumed it was the GPS signal being lost, and then the stupid phone having difficulty trying to resume once the signal was regained.
