I got a medical card while I was unemployed. I'm now in full time employment but earning under 21k a year. What are my entitlements to it? Only just started! I do need it as I have a medical condition and can't afford vhi

You're definitely over the means test limits but you could have a discretionary medical card for your condition.

If you were on Jobseekers Allowance for a year before you started work then you are entitled to keep your medical card for 3 years. See below from www.citizensinformation.ie

    Returning to work
If you are getting a social welfare payment for a year or more and return to work, you may be able to keep your medical card for up to 3 years.

Do you need to apply for the retention of the medical card, or just continue on and raise the 3 yr thing at review?

That is interesting. Very positive support for unemployed persons, along with that JobsPlus. Not often you hear about these. Most often you hear only about the bad stuff.
