Will I get a meter?

Is it possible to find out if I'm ever going to be given a water meter?

I live in a house in Dublin city, there is no reason that I can see why I don't have one - and there is no earthly way I'd be paying the full (unmetered) bill amounts if I had one.

I have rung IW before about this, and just got a generic "your address is not listed at the moment" answer.

Can IW confirm if I'll ever get a meter or not?

    Hi HeidiHeidi,

    Thank you for contacting us.

To check suitability for metering Irish Water will carry out a survey on all domestic properties. There are a number of reasons that a property may be deemed unsuitable for metering. For example the location of your Outside Stop Valve, condition of the service pipe along with other factors.

If your house is deemed suitable you will receive a water meter. Once your property is scheduled to receive a meter you will receive notification from Irish Water two weeks prior to installation, and again three days in advance of works.

    I hope this helps.
    Kind regards,
    Aaron

OK, I'll rephrase my question, as this is exactly the fluffy, effectively meaningless answer I got when I rang months ago.

Can I find out if my property has been surveyed?  And the result of that survey?  And if it hasn't, when will it be surveyed?  Or might it be surveyed?

I'm close to Dublin city centre, half the country (if not more) seems to have their meters installed, I feel I'm being overbilled every quarter, and I'd like to know if and when I might get a meter and have this situation corrected.

    Thanks.

    Hi HeidiHeidi,

While there is no option to request a meter be installed at your property currently, Irish Water are currently installing meters across the country.

If they did not install a meter at your property yet, they may still be scheduled to return to your area.

As previously advised, you will receive notice of metering works two weeks prior to installation.
    You can find more here.

If you would like us to look into this matter further for you, please provide the following details by PM:

    - Name;
    - Address; and
    - Contact number.

    Kind regards,
    Mairead
