    Help please. Someone (not me) was trying to turn the cold water off in the house and decided to mess around with the valves for the hot water tank. Since then, there has been no hot water. The radiators are heating up fine. I think I have opened the correct valves and stopcock anti clockwise is open? (only turns a little either way).

    Its the same as your kitchen taps... anti clockwise would be open

    Is the tank heating up?
    if it is;
    That one coming out of the top will be hot water out - usually. Follow the pipes off it and make sure the valves you meet are open.
    If theres none on that, remember hot water will always be at the top of the tank - so pipes near the top will often be hot water out - but they could be other things - like the coil that heats the water in the first place.

    If the tank is not hot well then your hot awter supply to the tank has been switched off.

    Thanks, one of the pipes is warm (maybe the rads?), but don't think the tank is warm. The stopcock only turns a tiny bit, so think this may have need replaced.

    Is there anything on the pipe thats warm that looks like a vlave? try opening that.
    Not sure whicj stopcock you're referring to. Your pics dont really help cos you cant see what pipes are going where.
    If you're stuck for hot water - it sounds like turning your emmersion on will work - or at least help you to trouble shoot further.

    Take a pic of the hotpress from a distance where all the pipework can be seen

    Thanks for the replies - problem solved - the stopcock was seized shut (red gate valve bottom left of first picture) - needed replaced. Wasn't sure as was able to turn it a bit.
