Just thought I would start a new thread to get a discussion going on ethical situations that arise in practice:

Let me know what you think of these situations:

    1. You are working as an accountant in a practice. The CARB are paying a visit to your firm. They have selected certain audit files. One of the audit files selected for testing doesn't exist. The partner and the audit senior prepare the audit file 3 days before the CARB arrive. They back date all documents, get the directors in to sign management letters and back date them and present the file to CARB. Although you haven't worked on that audit you are aware of what the firm had done.... what do you do?

    2. You are preparing a CT return and the partner emails you to change figures in the accounts. You know that he/she is purposely trying to reduce the CT liability by adding fictitious expenses? What do you do?
