    Hi there

So here's problem, I have 20 years old, I'm working on part time which has flexible contract. My pay rate is 8.65 ph, I'm getting only 270 euro per week, now I'm living with parent and want be independent from my parents...

The problem is I cannot afford paying monthly 1000 euro for flat, even 750 euro is not suitable for me (food expenses, utility bills etc).

My question is simple (I bet.) and I hope you will help me solve this.

What I have to do ? is there any benefits that I can claim? there is no way to get full time job (360 euro per week), forget about finding new job, I think Casual Worker Claim will be refuse because sometimes I'm working in Sunday or more than 3 days.

Rent allowance is not accepted by all landlords (thanks irish government, more homeless people.)

I don't want live with my parents the reason is we are not in good relationships.

Is there any benefit that I can claim, just to raise these 80 euro ? (280 + 80) this would solve the problem...

    Just asking
    Regards,
    Daniel

Why do you think you need to rent your own place? Most people start out house sharing and not in central Dublin...

You're only 20, why not share with mates/strangers (400 -500 pm) or get a bedsit (500 - 600)? I was 34 working fulltime before I could afford to rent a one bedroom apartment.

Then re evaluate what's more important. Moving out or getting a higher paying job.

Living in your own place is somewhat of a luxury in rental terms. Like other posters, I'd suggest a house share. It can be good fun, meet new people and have a bit of fun. Lots of people make long term friendships with former housemates.

The vast majority of people aren't strange.

If you don't want to live with strangers is there anyone from your workplace that you could share with? If you ask around something may come up.

Even if u qualify for rent allowance they will only give u a contribution towards renting a room.

The only part time workers that get any state assistance are people with children or if u only work 3 days.

Sorry doesn't look like there is any support for you.

Your choice is get a job with more hours in order to afford your own place or improve relationship between you and your parents.

    Move out of Dublin.

Find a new job. Find a 2nd job.

If you want to be independent you need to do it for yourself, not look to the taxpayer to support you. Don't forget living away from home, rent is only one of your extra expenses. You need a better job or a 2nd job. Do you parents charge you rent? They should.

But that only applies if you used to be full time. If you've always been part time, then I think you'd struggle to make a case for JB/JA.

The other possibility is if you are disabled.

op, why can't you get a better job or more hours?

Hi there, thanks all for replies.

The problem is I was looking for job around 2 years and nothing happens, sent many cv, left many cv's to managers, nothing.

They can't give me full time position cuz its in contract, Mrs OBumble can be right, 3 days only applies for full time job, if I 'm on part time then I could claim for JA or JB, don't know. I have to speak with Citizen Informations...
