Overflowing toilet cistern

    Hi,

Got two bathrooms renovated earlier in year including new dual flush toilets, something I'm not too familiar with. Anyway few days ago noticed one of them was overflowing into the pan, having looked at google a bit and looking at prob on and off seems that the prob was water filling too high in cistern and being taken away by overflow system. Tried and failed to adjust the inflow, when it looked like it had stopped filling water seem to keep dripping in slowly from near start of white plastic arm/wheel (pics attached). Tried playing around with this without success including getting water filling like crazy when tipped off top of inflow, flat horizontal circle. Have now managed to get water to stop filling with nut for arm tightened by arm not connected to rod for float. Rather than waste more water wonder if anyone could suggest likely cause/poss cure (which may be call a plumber). Had a look at second toilet but system in it a bit different. Any advice anyone can give appreciated, thanks

Replace the fill valve. You could dismantle and clean it but you'll probably have to take it out to do that anyway and it may not work anyway. This type of valve is difficult repair.

thanks Walter Becket, is there much to replacing the whole thing? do you attach to stalk from base of cistern or does that go too? just glad for now to not have water running, metering has helped focus the mind :)

The stalk goes too. First turn off the water and verify it's off. Flush the toilet. Remove the pipe. Put some towels on the floor and a bucket or basin. Remove the plastic nut from below that holds the fill valve in. Pull out the old part, do it all in reverse. Carefull now.
