    Hi all,

Will be flying to the UK in the next couple of weeks and Mrs informs me I cannot bring my E-Cig with me?
She says you cannot carry it on your person or carry on luggage and it will probably be confiscated at security?

I said that sounds very wrong to me but she is adament.

Anyone have any experience with this? Any info greatly appreciated

    Fagan

EDIT: Obviously not to use in flight

I hope you weren't intending to use it during the flight, that would be terrible inconsiderate to others.

I fly with mine regularly. I usually put it with my toiletries when going through security. When I flew to the States in September, the security officer questioned what it was and let me through once I told him.

Juice in the liquids bag and everything else in your carry on. No issues coming through a few airports in England and no issues at all in Dublin.

Dont put batteries in your check-in luggage, best to carry these in the hand luggage.

Be prepared for a little hassle, especially if it's something more unusual like the all-in-one style devices like an eGrip. In the UK I've always been pulled to the side because of it while they check it over. Last time I went through Stansted they actually took it off me to 'test' it before they let me through.

put Liquid and clearomiser in with Toiletries and Battery in with Labtop or in a jacket pocket , I have gone through pretty much every major airport in the northern Hemisphere with it , never so much as a glance in my direction.

You should have no problems other than maybe a few questions.
As said earlier, liquids in the liquid bag, mods in your carry on.
If questioned just explain politely, don't insult them as they can choose to be a$$holes at any second.
Bear in mind though, that nobody (nobody) currently has legal right to take an ecig from you in this country or the UK, but just don't be an a$$hole and you'll be fine. I even sneak vaped on my last 4 hour flight with no issues.

cant beat a sneaky vape, sometimes im a bit too casual about it and forget I'm meant to be hiding it, let off a load of cloud on a plane once but it was a night time flight and most people were asleep :D:D:D.

Lol, or holding in a big gulp of vape while the hostess walks past checking in on you, with your big red face and constipated look!

There aren't any TSA rules for E-cigarettes. However, there are rules for liquids of any type in case You are travelling with the kit. Keep that in mind.

    AER LINGUS HERE
    General Guidelines
    Loose Batteries

Batteries can short circuit and catch fire if they are carried loose in your bag. Loose Batteries must be protected against contact with other metal items (e.g. by being in their orginal packaging or own protective case) and carried in your hand baggage.

Equipment containing correctly installed batteries can be packed in your checked baggage.

Not having a go now, but i've heard this loads of times before and i've never had a problem. Can anyone here explain why?

    I assume its pressure/tank related.

I have had 2 different tanks a triton (already a very leaky tank ) and a nautilus have the juice pour out on me on 2 different flights. luckily the triton was in one of those sandwich bag things so wasn't too bad in the end

Ejuice - keep it in a plastic bag within a plastic bag. Squeeze all the air you can out of the bottle and close it immediately.

Mods/batteries - hand luggage. I've flown numerous times with Aer Lingus and Ryanair. Not a word said to me. Last time I flew I had 3 of them with me.

Tanks - again keep them in a plastic bag within a plastic bag in either your hand luggage or checked luggage. Always keep them upside down if theres juice in them.

If you're vaping during the flight stick to a mouth to lung tank. Don't use a sub ohm tank in the toilets either.

I used to just put my battery/mod in my hand luggage, but I had a twin 18650 mod coming through a UK airport before and I got pulled over by security at the x-ray machine who asked me to look at the screen and tell them what it looked like. It looked exactly like a bomb. Luckily he knew exactly what it was and we had a laugh about it. But he said in future to just put it out on one of the trays. I've done that ever since and no one looks at it twice.

    I assume its pressure/tank related.

For a nautilus at least, if you keep it upside down during the flight then pressure can equalise through the airholes and it won't leak. That'll probably work with most tanks/clearos. Just check there isn't a build up if liquid under the drip tip first.

I've flown several times in the last month and had no problems. As has been said, liquids need to go in the toiletries bag and batteries can't be checked in.

I wrap my tank in a tissue and put them in a seperate plastic bag, as the pressure makes them leak a bit, but other than that, no issues at all.

I was stopped in India early this year but when I showed them what it was (and demonstrated it) they were fine, if somewhat amused.

in the year and a bit since I started using a vape i've flown cross atlantic several times and into mainland europe as well as the UK each time i've had my vape in my pocket and a couple of phials of ejuice in my rucksack, in a case.

never 1ce been stoppped or even gotten a second look. using it on the plane is a no-no. Ive been told it is because the "smoke" causes alarm with the staff, but I can't say if that's the reason or not just what somone told me. Understandable though. Simply blow it into your jumper or nip to the bogs.

Tbh though, flights to the UK are less than an hour, do you really need it that badly?

No my concern was that it would be taken off me altogether before boarding at security.

100% not gonna happen unless you jovially slap security on the arm, point at the mod and wink at them saying "That's a bomb!"
