Rather than bumping an 11-year-old thread: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=1410520 I decided to start a new one. :)

There are new Luas tracks on O'Connell Street (at the Spire) and Westmoreland Street (Fleet Street). There is also the short section that was built with the Rosie Hackett Bridge. Be careful, especially in wet and/or freezing weather as they can be slippy. Also, be aware of the groove in the rail, which can catch your wheel. Cross the rails at 90 degrees if possible.

You can see the route of the new and proposed tracks here http://www.itoworld.com/map/15?lon=-6.26170&lat=53.34878&zoom=15&fullscreen=true - marked in light purple (is that lilac)?
    Dear All,

As the Luas Cross City project rolls along tram rails are now becoming visible on the streets. Please be aware that on the Northbound carriageway of O'Connell St., just North of the Spire, there is now a short section of the road with tram rails embedded in it. This section of road is being re-opened to all traffic tomorrow (Tuesday 10th), there is about 20mtrs in length of embedded track and it is closest to the median (see picture attached which give a sense of the location).

There will be advance warning signage on the carriageway as people approach the area and we will be informing the public through our social media, website and traffic alerts from tomorrow onwards. However, I would be extremely grateful if you could also inform your members to this. If you have any queries or questions for me please contact me on my mobile below or email.

For your comfort and safety when cycling:

    * Be careful during wet or icy weather as the tram rails can be slippery
    * When crossing tram rails do so as close as possible to a right angle
    * Where possible avoid braking whilst on tram rails
    * Do not ride immediately adjacent to a tram rail as cycle wheels may be caught in the tram rail groove

    Regards

    Grainne Mackin
