Some of the VAG cars have a setting you can choose where when you press the button to unlock the doors once it only unlocks the drivers door, you press it twice to unlock all doors (or change the setting in the car, I think it's under 'convenience' if you have the multi-function computer on your dash)
Is this the problem you are having?

    Does the car have deadlocking?

I would imagine that this fault is related to the deadlocks.

    Bring it to a mechanic.

Sit in the car and try it, if on the second press the passenger doors are deadlocked but the drivers door is unlocked it is likely that something has broken or is jammed in the deadlock mechanism on the door and when it can't engage it forces or defaults to unlocked.

Unless you know what you are doing or are good with mechanics and in possession of a diagram of the locking mechanism it is unlikely you will be able to diagnose or sort this yourself.

Alternatively if you don't want to spend money on it and are not bothered about not having the deadlocking work just leave it and remember not to press the button twice.

You may also be able to disable the deadlocking function so you don't accidentally leave the driver door unlocked, check the manual.

For what it's worth, I know two Audi's that do this. So unless I'm missing something, your's seems perfectly ok.

    Sequence is:

Car fully locked -> One Unlock Press -> Driver's Door Open Only -> Twice (Rapidly) Unlock Press -> All Doors Open

    or

Car fully locked -> Twice (Rapidly) Unlock Press -> All Doors Open

The red light is just the immobiliser indicator.

The problem he's having is that when the car is locked & he presses the lock button a second time the drivers door unlocks.

Yes, that does seem a bit weird. I sometimes forget if I've locked the car and just hit the lock button again to make sure so it'd be a bit worrying if it actually ended up actually unlocking it!

On the other hand, most cars have a function whereby if you unlock the car but don't activate any of the door or boot handles within a pre-set time, say 20 seconds, they automatically lock again, so you should be safe.

Thanks for the reply. When I sit in the car and press the button to put deadlocking on drivers door doesn't open but rear Passagner door does 😕
