How much would you expect to pay for this in cash? Also any feedback on this car would be appreciated. It will be used for around 80-100km mileage per week including a little motorway driving.

It's a Jap import, avoid from an insurance and radio/display setup.

If you're actually looking for an automatic Yaris, the jap import ones are the ones to get. They don't have the dreadful multimode box that the European ones have.

Not sure how difficult the keyless start could make things if goes wrong. It may be different from the European version.

That car would be beyond slow though. You'd lose a few horses through the slushbox.
That one isn't priced badly IMO.

I'd be looking to see the auction sheet from Japan as this will show any body damage at time of sale there , the true mileage etc.

I'd much prefer this one. Proper 4 cylinder engine, better spec, same tax

I would be double checking that it's actually 1.3 and not 1.5

Thanks folks for the replys. One more question I never drove an automatic car before. Are they just as reliable and cost effective as manual and are they straightforward to drive. I cant find many manual versions of this car available. I like the one on done deal though:D
This is another I am considering. Its a bit dearer but a year newer but also automatic. If I was to walk in with cash in hand how much do you think I would get off the listed price?

Auto will use more fuel than manual in this case. There is more to go wrong in an automatic gearbox, but on the other hand you don't have a clutch to burn out.
    Automatics are simplicity to drive.

I don't think it's worth paying much of a premium for 09m vs 08. In a few weeks they'll be 7 or 8 years old anyway. They're both relatively old.

If you don't actually need an automatic and don't like the manual Yariss out there, why not look at something similar but different.
    I'm thinking Suzuki Swift.

What do you want out of a car. Does the high spec of the Japanese ones appeal over the Irish spec ones.

I am now considering going for this Yaris with a full bodywork. Should I avoid it or does it look like a decent car and also he the seller said it initially cost €8250 and he would knock off €300 thus €7950. Should I look for more off the price if buying in cash. Also one more thing would I have problems with insurance for this and the radio not working as mentioned above in the thread? Overall would it cost a lot of money to insure and get parts for etc.

Have you considered non-automatic non-jap import cars?
What's drawing you to these Vitz's?

    Colm,

I would prefer an Irish car and non automatic but I am finding it hard to source one in the same colour and spec.

Euro spec Yaris are dull as dishwater though. Would you not look for something else with a bit of spec on it instead, no Irish or U.K. Yaris will fit your needs unless you find a rare one with spec and a 1.3 engine

If you're set on getting a Yaris though, here is the top spec Irish model (apart from the t sport)
It's the sol model with optional luxury pack. The luxury pack gave keyless entry and start, climate control, sol models have 9 airbags, upgraded radio, coloured mirrors and handles, height adjustable seats, alloys, fogs, reach adjustment on the wheel, remote audio, leather wheel and gearknob etc.
These are as rare as hens teeth. This one has the 1.3 engine too, but it's the last of the old type vvt-I engine and 5 speed box rather than the newer dual vvti 1.33 with 6 speed.

Thanks Colm. This looks good value although the number plate looks fishy. Why would it be blanked out (afraid of cartell check?)

That one you linked is the base model with the 3 cylinder 1.0 engine.
    Not pleasant.

I'm not gone on that generation of Yaris, they were built to a low budget with mountains of cheap looking plastics in the interior. I also don't think they were as bomb proof as their reputation suggests.

I'd be looking at the Suzuki Swift over that model Yaris:

the 1.3 is carried over from the old model. the 1.0 engine is what ruins the yaris tbh.

swift is a good call (well I suggested it twice so it must be!)
