    a site called Transfare

Searched for the site. Doesn't seem to exist so I'd say it's safe enough

Just use PayPal or transfer directly from your bank account by using their IBAN number.

I'm living abroad and I know my grandmother is going to transfer money to me for Christmas. Nothing I tell her will change this!

I'd much rather she used the money to come visit me. I live somewhere that i know she would enjoy a holiday and itd be great to see her. People often tell me I'm 'living the dream' but to be honest sometimes I'd just love to sit and have a cup of tea with my grandmother!

Maybe your family are the same.

You'd be safer tying it to a balloon and pointing it towards America I'd say.

Seriously though use Paypal or bank transfer. Don't trust anything else !

Homing pigeons. That way,Op can strap a note on to each leg, much more of a personal touch I'm sure you'd agree, but the real beauty in all this of course,is that the OP can get little reminders of home stuck on by the loved ones when the noble pigeons, with incredible navigational skills fly back to his gaf

Ask in a bank or at the post office, they'll sort it for you.

Why not buy her the ticket with the money she sends.

    Simples :D

I use Transferwise to transfer money to the US once a month. I find it excellent - way cheaper than doing it through any bank (which is how I used to do it). It's quick too - For example, I set up a transfer last Friday and the money was in the US account today.

https://transferwise.com These guys? I used them recently to transfer from a sterling UK account to a euro one here at several cents better rate than a regular bank transfer

Transferwise has been good for me. Transferred money to the UK and back for a fairly good rate.
