I think it's a great move. It should result in great exposure for him to some of the bigger teams (Wiggins are sponsored by sky iirc).

He gets to ride top end kit Pinarrello, Zipp etc, has exposure to a lot of top quality races, has one of the most decorated cyclists of the past 15 years as a mentor and will be more on the radar of a lot of top pro conti and WT teams.

    Awful move .....

    ;-)

It must be the Cidona they put in the waters in Carrick. It flows back towards Clonmel as between the two towns (and clubs) there were some brilliant riders who didn't go pro but could have in the last 30 years. Bobby, Paddy and Larry Power, Anthony and Dick O Gorman, Peter Daly, Michal Fitzgerald, Michael Woods, Ray Clarke, Brian Kenneally, All Ireland Senior and Junior Champions. The whole area bred good cyclists like Kilkenny produces hurlers

Was a blow in but proud to have raced as a Carrick Wheeler back in the day.

I think it's a great move. I doubt if An Post even approached him. If you remember, they had no interest in taking Sam Bennett as a first year senior. He started the year with Carrick and finished it with VC la Pomme.

I saw this coming last year when he was given a Pinarello TT bike by the Wiggins team..........obviously with no conditions lol. He already had a shiv and a Magnet.ie sponsored TT bike. Cracking move for him IMHO as Wiggins is a TT man like Michael but obviously great at all climbing etc too.

Would that fact that Team Wiggins are a dual road/track team have been an influence?
