New Gas Boiler

I'm thinking of getting a new gas boiler as the current one is 18 years old and while the rads are fine it has stopped heating the water tank. I'm using the immersion to heat the water but don't want to continue that for too much longer.

Rather than throw good money on repairing and servicing an old boiler, I'm thinking I'm better off buying a new one.

What specs should I look for and at what price and any recommendations for supply and install. Naas area.

It's unlikely that the lack of heating of the hot water cylinder is due to a problem with the boiler, more likely an issue with circulation to the coil in the cylinder. Replacing the boiler will not necessarily resolve the issue. I'd suggest you get the operation of the entire system reviewed before committing to replace the boiler, the lack of hot water heating could be as simple as a failed valve actuator.

Thanks for the reply Pete67 - I'll get plumber to look at that.

I'm still considering getting the new boiler anyway to reduce heating costs and for reliability, so any suggestions from all still welcome.

I'd always fit an Ariston. Very intelligent boiler and if your finances stretched a bit, fit weather compensation and full zoning too. You'd be entitled to 750 back from seai if it's done to their spec
