Optical out failed?

    I have a Technics amp coming off the optical out of a Sony Bravia TV and then powering a couple of Mission speakers. The sound on the TV appears to have failed. If I switch to the TV speakers I get sound. If I switch to tuner on the amp I get sound. Just nothing from the optical link.

    Any ideas on how to troubleshoot? Did the cable fail or is it possible the optical circuit on the TV could fail independant of the sound output to the TV speakers.

    Bit baffled...

    Took another look, there are two optical ins on the amp, switched to the second and it works! Is it possible only one of these inputs failed?
