Lads, have very annoying intermittent ringing noise coming from rear wheel when pedaling only and when putting bit of pressure on pedal stroke when in larger rings at rear ,not a consistent noise and have has cassette checked thoroughly with no joy.Tried wheel in question on second bike and same thing so from wheel/cassette for sure .Doing my head in at this stage .Got new spoke fitted recently and all spokes seem ok .Any help to get rid of greatly appreciated .

Had similar issue to one you describe not so long ago - kind of grinding noise and only in the low gears and only when under heavy load (uphill)

It was with a relatively new rear Zonda wheel.

Long story short............... After bringing it to 2 mechanics, neither could find anything wrong.
Brought it to a 3rd and he said 'the hub just needed a little tightening up'

So 2 mechanics viewed the wheel as as OK but another found fault with it.

Anyway, it's fixed now and I know who I'll be bringing the bike to for any work I can't do myself anymore.

tks G1032 ,the mechanic I went to checked the cassette for tightness and found to be ok .Only things its not a grinding noise ,its a distinct ting tome like a bike bell getting one flick at a time ,

Ah. No, the noise I was getting was definitely not a 'ting' sound.
Still probably worth getting a second opinion if there are a few mechanics in your locality

I've had similar.. Same noise on 2 wheels.
Chain can get a bit fat if you like.
Get the bike on a stand or up in the air.
Pedal slowly in The offending gear whilst looking between derailleur and cassette... If your problem is like mine you'll see chain riding up on cassette briefly before popping on(only occasionally)... Thus giving you the ringing noise.
New chain will do the trick if this is the case.
    Marty.

It could be your rear derailleur hitting off the spokes on the highest gear/cog. When pressure is applied the wheel might be brought ever so slightly towards the derailleur and make contact, so it might not be evident if you just put the bike upside down and crank it. It can make a bell kind of noise if say one spoke is only making contact intermittently. Derailleur needs adjusting if so.
