Tyre speed specification question

I'm picking up a set of Uniroyals.

The speed spec on the current ones is 97H

However the 4 that come up for me online are

    Uniroyal Rain Sport 3 - 215/55 R16 97H XL TL £66.95 inc.VAT

    Uniroyal Rain Sport 3 - 215/55 R16 93V TL £60.70 inc.VAT

    Uniroyal Rain Sport 3 - 215/55 R16 97Y XL TL £59.95 inc.VAT

    Uniroyal Rain Sport 3 - 215/55 R16 93Y TL £59.85 inc.VAT

The closest match is the first one but why is the 97Y cheaper, if it has a higher rating - should I just get that one and save the extra £7 a corner?

There be a load index to so the H maybe more expensive because load index being higher.

If the cheaper rainsport matches load index then yes get the cheaper tyre.

I think the load index is the xl tl etc but cant remember off top my head the whats what.

Load index is the 97, speed rating is the Y, XL is extra load, TL is tubless (a pretty redundant marking)

The are probably just cheaper because they both more of them.

The y is the better speed rating so there is no downside to the cheaper tyre. Only cheaper as Id say the H rated one is pretty redundant now so a less common tyre.

The XL extra load was what I was thinking of, thought there was a couple different ones that have stronger side walls or something.

    Cheers

When would you go for an XL tyre? Is it when towing a trailer or is having a heavier car enough to justify it?
