Putting in a tank here that will double as a collecting yard and feeding passage in the winter. Slat manufacturer will give me both grooved or rough brush finish at the same price, but said he'd be slightly concerned that cattle may get lame from spending a lot of time on grooved slats in the winter. Anyone have any experience of this? Only ever had ordinary slats here

We had groves slats in the collection yards for well over 10 years. Didn't cause any extra lameness from when they weren't groved.

My dad said he'd go with the groved option if given the choice

Didn't see this until now and didn't know you could get them as such. Where are you buying?

How rough is rough? How close are grooves, like if spaced close together surley not an issue

Grooved all the way. We even got all our slatts grooved. All passages grooved.

Please don't consider anything other than grooved,
