Little or no details really but would be great if it goes ahead eventually.
    Sunday times reporting the following.

RTE is in talks with Freesat, a British free-to-air digital TV service owned by the BBC and ITV, to co-develop a high-tech Saorview box. The broadcaster aims to take on heavyweights Sky and Virgin Media.

The new service, Saorview Connected, represents an attempt by RTE to compete with commercial operators.

The new box will include Freesat’s 200 TV and radio stations, on-demand and catch-up services. It will have internet protocol television capability, which means customers would be able to access services over the internet. This would include services such as Netflix, although there is no agreement with a movie streaming service at this stage.
