Heatpump Tumble Dryer in Garage

I am considering investing in Heatpump tumble dryer. However I have no good place in the house and want to put in an the garage. For 10+ years I have successfully used a standard condenser dryer in the garage but I am not sure if a heat-pump dryer will work that well or at all when the environmental temperature gets too low.

The sales people as usual have no idea and the manufacturer, when e-mailed just told me their devices are for a "domestic environment" and use in an outbuilding would void the warranty, not very helpful...

So does somebody now, has experience with using such dryers outside in a garage or shed or similar environment? Many thanks in advance.

    A quick google produced this

    Heat pump condenser dryers
Heat pump condenser dryers can reduce running costs by more than 50%. These dryers use a heat pump to draw in warm air from the drum and cool it, separating out the water into a tank before re-heating the air and sending it back to the drum. This process is a lot more energy efficient than condenser dryers. However, heat pump technology is expensive.
So It should work OK, but during a cold spell the garage temperature may result in less heat being available for the heat pump due to heat loss through the frame of the unit.
It just means that you'll be using more energy to maintain the temperature on cold days, the same as you would be using with the current unit.

Thanks for your quick reply. So you think insulating it might help. i.e boxing it in with a bit of plaster+foam board?!

Probably won't help too much as the system draws in the air from the room, it is this air that will be much colder than if it was in a utility room.

Air to Water heat pumps are common in Sweden even though the winters are freezing there. OP I imagine the warmer the room, the more efficient the dryer. They look great on paper. But the reviews dont seem amazing eg the Samsung one. Generally the first/second generation of new technology isnt great. I would say this dryer will be a lot cheaper in a few years

I imagine the massive energy savings you expect with this dryer would only be maximised if you had it in a relatively warm room.Even the most basic dryer with a humidity sensor is an improvement on the older dryers efficiency.

Have you considered a Gas Dryer? We have a white knight in a rent property and its pretty good for running costs. The built isnt great(its British made, so you cant expect much). But my friend has a different brand and its super
