Corolla - Demister interference on radio

    Hi All,

I have a 2007 Corolla and noticed the other day that if I turn on the rear demister I suddenly get interference on the radio. Once I turn the de-mister off it stops.

I had the car serviced the day before I noticed it - would it be possible the guy could have done something during the service by accident? I'm not definite when it started because I often just use CDs in the car so it may be totally unrelated and have been there before the service but I'm not sure.

Is there any simply suggestions that I could try (as someone who doesn't really have a clue about cars!), or do I need to bring it back into the garage?

    Thanks!

The antenna is part of the rear windscreen, so it's likely that a break in the heated rear screen is causing this.

They didn't take a dealer sticker off the back window or anything when they were servicing?

Yeah I had an idea that the antenna and mister were connected, but no he wouldn't have been at the back window at all as far as I know.

have a look at the heater element wires for any breaks. back in the day you could spot them very handy because some of the horizontal lines wouldn't defrost but nowadays there are vertical wires linking them together too.

this seems to a common problem with Toyota cars, I have a 2009 corolla and my father inlaw a 2007 avensis both have the same. problem don't know how to fix it though
