How ya.have a small flock of 7 pedigree Hampshire downs and I am looking to increase my flock.I own around 5 and half acres so get no entitlements or anything like that.there's 20 acres after coming up for rent nearby and I am very interested in giving it a go.just wondering would anyone have any advice on this.I'm married and will need to convince herself that this is a runner.the ground is only fair and would probably be only suitable for hardier sheep but I don't mind that.can keep my pedigree sheep around home.is it something that eould pay for itself and make a profit?could I claim entitlements?what types?would they be much.how long before I could get them etc etc!!ny help appreciated

How big are you looking to become, would 5 and half acres not hold near 20-30 ewes with out renting?

I like the Hampshire downs myself, nice handy lambed.

That they are.I'd like to be part time farmer and do my day job part time too so would like to be making only handy bit from each but farming would have to warrant the time put into it.
