Can anyone give me an idea of how much to budget? There's my dress and then three bridesmaids and it's the one thing I have no idea how much it is going to cost.

It depends on what you need done, I was told to budget €200-€300 for my dress.

    What needs altering?

Three bridesmaids skirts and my own dress needs the top altered and the skirt shortened

I would say to budget between €300 - €400 for all the alterations. Where are you based? Do you have any seamstress details?

I have someone good in mind, just haven't had a chance to get In touch yet. Thanks for that, less than expected

Yeah about 300 should be plenty for your own dress.
I think I paid €290 for mine and a BM dress. That included, shortening both, shortening straps on BM,sewing bras on both and changing the neckline on mine.
Mine had a lace overlay and that is much more work intensive to shorten as the appliqués had to be removed, the skirt shortened then appliqués replaced so not just hemming.

I would issue a caution though and say to make sure you use a proper seamstress. My bridesmaids organised their own alterations as they were spread around the country. One girl went to a very well known chain and they did a horrific job. I had to get a seamstress to do a cover up job in it afterwards. Just lazy and awful work.

Thanks for that. Yeah I have someone who did my cousins wedding and my sister was a bridesmaid for that and she's done a lot of other people who are raving about her.
