Looking at maybe getting this from LAPTOPSDIRECT.IE It's actually a PC Specialist laptop but they don't seem to be selling it themselves (older version I imagine).
I'm looking to use it for gaming (Minecraft, DIRT 2, BioShock) as well as audio production (nothing too heavy).
    Any opinions on spec, price?

Would this be a better alternative?

The spec on laptops direct is weird. In the description it talks of an i5 and Nvidia chip, however the specs at the bottom of the page mention an i3 and no graphics...

Good spot. Probably wise to stay away from that so! I'm struggling to find a decent GPU in a machine that's sub €1,000. Or it could be that I'm not clued into what can run games at reasonable settings. Is there any point in looking at the HD 5XXX series of GPUs, or are any integrated chips worth it for semi-serious gameplay?

You can configure the Cosmos III 15.6" with an i5-4210H, 8GB, GTX950, Full HD Screen for €939 delivered from PC Specialist. You're probably best off buying direct from them.

Or could can get it with the GT940M for about a hundred euro less or more, even, depending. If you're only playing Minecraft and Dirt 2, it's more than enough.

Integrated graphics are best avoided if you're a games player.

Thanks for that. I guess I'll have to sacrifice the notion of a 17" to keep the price under €1,000. I'm coming from a 17" so I'm probably thinking a 15.6" is gonna be tiny in comparison. Has anyone made the step down and did they regret loosing that bit of real estate (in gaming and general usage)?

    I stepped down to a 15.6" Dell with a 4k screen from a 17" Toshiba with a 1600x900 TN display.

It wasn't a step down at all :)
