    Hi
We want to get married next year and have located a really nice restaurant where we intend to hold the reception (80 guests). We are struggling with finding a venue to conduct the civil ceremony. Have asked one hotel but they declined saying they wanted the complete wedding. We don’t want to waste time asking hotels and this will probably the line we’ll get, so we would appreciate ideas where we could hold the ceremony in the Clare/Limerick area.
    Tks

Who is doing your wedding? Your solemniser should be able to advise on local non-hotel venues that might be suitable? If you don't have a solemniser yet, let me know & I can put you in touch with one in Cork :-)

I know its not very glamorous, but what about a village hall or community centre, in your local area? You could do it up with candles etc, make it look lovely and inviting, and they will have the chairs etc to get it up.

You would need to check with whoever is doing your ceremony though as with registrars the location of the ceremony needs to be in a place that has been pre-approved. If its a solemniser they will likely be able to carry out the ceremony at a larger range of venues, but again may need to be pre-approved.

We had a marriage blessing a few weeks ago (after the registry office official ceremony) back at the hotel where we had the reception and the lady who carried it out had previously done blessing in a number of places, including outside on the beach if that is something that would appeal to you! Probably not the right time of year, but it is a more informal blessing could pick a lovely outdoor location and have some kind of gazebo. That lady is from Clare if you want details.

Again dont know who is performing your ceremony so a lot will be based on that.

The Municipal Gallery in Limerick do civil ceremonies. Check theatres, castles too.

I don't know what's involved in having a venue registered for civil ceremonies - but could you use the restaurant? We got married in the restaurant where we held our reception (secular ceremony, not civil) and it worked out great:)
